Ultimate Origins #2 (preview)

July 8th, 2008, 11:51 am by Shawn Munguia

This is basically Marvel Comics‘ Ultimate Captain America origin story and it’s almost identical to the mainstream caps story. There are a few minor changes but for the most part it’s the story we almost all know. Still, the story is well told and those little differences are fun little geek moments. Theres’ also something about a post with a red eye thingy, akin to HAL from “2001” that will likely feature heavily in the  overall story. The book is well worth a read.

American Dream #4 (preview)

June 16th, 2008, 7:58 pm by Shawn Munguia

This fun title from Marvel Comics has been a fun read from issue one. Issue three offered some insight into the Dreams drive to become a hero and this issue looks into how much that drive has held up over time. It also provides a great new villain and some clarification on the silicone men.

Marvel Comics has been pumping the Ultimate Origins series for a while now. Issue one doesn’t let you in on much of the secrets, but it surely sets the hook. Check out these first few pages that showcase America’s first attempt at a Cap type character in the Ultimate Universe. Really a great read.

American Dream #3 preview

June 2nd, 2008, 4:34 pm by Shawn Munguia

I have to say, I’m really enjoying this Marvel Comics series, based in an alternative timeline. It feels like a mid-’90s comic without all that cross company crossover mess. In this issue, we get a bit more of a view into Dream’s past and her training. Check out the preview, then get a copy of the book to find out who the surprise trainer was. Trust me, you’ll dig it.
