Ultimate X-Men #95 (preview)

June 16th, 2008, 9:00 pm by Shawn Munguia

Last month, Marvel Comics revealed that Ultimate Colossus didn’t gain superhuman strength with his mutation but instead relies on drugs to give him that edge or his body is too weak to make him any more useful than a shield. Ultimate Alpha Flight absconded with his boyfriend North Star, so the big Russian is dead set on getting him back, and some of his fellow mutants are willing to enhance their powers with the same drugs young Rasputin has been availing himself of.

Agatha Harkness of Marvel Comics’ Ultimate universe may not be driving a wedge into the Ultimate FF but she sure seems to be working hard at prying the thing deeper. The psychiatrist seems to have set the Hypocratic oath aside as the team grows further apart at her prodding.

Secret Invasion: The Fantastic Four #2 (preview)

June 16th, 2008, 8:51 pm by Shawn Munguia

Marvel Comics just can’t let a dangling plot dangle of late. Johnny Storm’s ex-wife Lyla returning from the crevices of obscurity to wreck havoc on the quintet is a perfect example of just that. With Reed and Susan out of the way she’s left to deal with Johnny and Ben “the Thing” Grimm. Of course, Franklin and kid sister Valaria are in tow in this Negative Zone adventure.

Ever since Marvel Comics put the Shell head at the helm of their premiere law-enforcement agency, a bunch of readers have been waiting to see what happens when some of the ghosts of Tony Starks’ past come out to play. This look like we’ll be seeing a bit of just that with this storyline.

Incredible Hercules #118 (preview)

June 16th, 2008, 8:08 pm by Shawn Munguia

Hercules became a “must read” pretty quickly and now Marvel Comics’ Prince of Power is the leader of a “God Squad.” Yep, Herc is leading a band of various deities against the Skrull gods, and the trip is just getting started when they have to cross the realm of Nightmare.

Guardians of the Galaxy #2 (preview)

June 16th, 2008, 8:04 pm by Shawn Munguia

How can you not get behind the Marvel Comics team with a raccoon that’s a weapons expert. If that doesn’t float your boat there’s two, count them two, knife wielding, green team members (Gamora and Drax the Destroyer), Adam Warlock, Phylla Vell and a trippy talking Mantis, of the Avengers circa 1980. If that doesn’t grab you, maybe the talking dog will.

American Dream #4 (preview)

June 16th, 2008, 7:58 pm by Shawn Munguia

This fun title from Marvel Comics has been a fun read from issue one. Issue three offered some insight into the Dreams drive to become a hero and this issue looks into how much that drive has held up over time. It also provides a great new villain and some clarification on the silicone men.

Young X-Men #3 preview

June 2nd, 2008, 5:20 pm by Shawn Munguia

This Marvel Comics series has been pretty interesting and a lot of fun so far. Scott Summers has amassed a solid strike force and they’re on the trail of X-Men gone astray. Really getting interesting at this point too as we get to see the gang in a fight, with Magma no less.
