A still image brought to life. That’s the basis of animation and it opens the door to so many possibilaties. There’s just something about a drawing coming to life that has captivated the imagination for years.

And while animation was once only done with drawings, we now have the computer to render the stories in ever more thrilling ways. Some have gotten lost in the bells and whistles yeilding results like Doogal and others, like the masterful Brad Bird, have produced masterpieces like Iron Giant and The Incredibles.

If you like the old fashioned doodle, or the 3-D extravaganza this blog will hope to satiate your thirst for knowledge of all things toon. And if you know little about this art form, pull up a virtual seat and examine this storytelling format.

I’ll try and pass on some tips like storytelling choices, camera angles and techniques, but this is mostly about enjoying the medium. And if you have any questions along the way, feel free to ask. If I can answer them, I will, If I can’t, I’ll try to find you an answer.
