Back and ‘Wonder Woman’ news

November 19th, 2008, 8:44 pm by Shawn Munguia

I’ll start this blog by apologizing form my long absence. With recent personnel changes I found myself somewhat overwhelmed, but I’m back now and will make sure that I have something to post regularly.

I’ll start now with word of the Amazon Princess getting her own DVD treatment.

Recent reports had the street date for the flick as February but the date is actually March 3. There will be single and double disk versions as well as a Blue Ray version.

The film is produced by Bruce Timm who has become somewhat legendary for his ability to bring DC characters to life in an animated format.

The extras are pretty copious so the two-disk seems the way to go in my book. Keep your eyes peeled and a space open in your video library. The Web site for the film is www.wonderwomanmovie.com and there’s a trailer there as well. Check it out then come back and tell me what you think.

Amazing Spider-Girl #22 (preview)

July 8th, 2008, 10:52 am by Shawn Munguia

This Marvel Comics book has been a fun read since I first started reading it. The comic tells stories of May “Mayday” Parker who has taken on her father’s mantle after Pete retired from the hero biz. The title takes place in the same alternate future where the American Dream operates and rarely fails to be at least a fun read.

This issue begins the tale of how Marvel Comics big green glamazon came to be disbarred and leaves you with a mystery to boot. There is also Peter David’s trademark humor and Val Semeiks pencils to look forward too.

Ms Marvel #27 preview

May 26th, 2008, 7:26 pm by Shawn Munguia

Marvel Comic’s “Ms.” namesake has had a solid run, issue #27 is new territory for the character as her last book didn’t make it this far. Volume two of the heroine’s tale is still hot with solid writing and beautiful art by the creative team. Add to that the fact that this is a Secret Invasion tie-in, and it makes this book a must have.

Issue #65 is the conclusion of the “Get Mystique” storyline in Marvel Comics‘ Wolverine. For those who’ve been waiting for a knock-down-drag-out between Wolvie and a neekid Mystique, this’ll fit the bill.

She-Hulk #27

March 25th, 2008, 7:22 am by Shawn Munguia

This week we’ll be focusing on a trio of strong women characters. One that’s had a long and constantly changing role in the Marvel Universe (Ms. Marvel), one that’s had a long role but has changed very little (She-Hulk) and a fairly new character that I’m expecting big things from (Echo).

She-Hulk continues her search for the guy that set her up for an explosion and deals with the aftermath of her actions.

New Avengers #39

This week we’ll be focusing on a trio of strong women characters. One that’s had a long and constantly changing role in the Marvel Universe (Ms. Marvel), one that’s had a long role but has changed very little (She-Hulk) and a fairly new character that I’m expecting big things from (Echo).

Echo is proving to be a very interesting character. The only real problem I have with her is that her deafness is often ignored when writing her making it inconsistent. Still, this is a character to watch and her team-up with Wolvie in this issue is pretty cool.
